🏛️ Manhyia Palace – The Seat of Ashanti Royalty

Located in Kumasi, Ghana, Manhyia Palace is the official residence of the Asantehene, the king of the Ashanti people. Built in 1925 by the British after the return of Asantehene Prempeh I from exile, the palace is a symbol of Ashanti culture, heritage, and power.

Today, it serves two main purposes:

👑 The New Manhyia Palace – Home of the reigning Asantehene
🏛️ The Old Manhyia Palace Museum – A public museum showcasing royal regalia, historical artifacts, photographs, and more from centuries of Ashanti history.

Visitors can explore:

  • The royal throne room

  • Historical weapons and artifacts

  • Portraits of past Asantehenes

  • Traditional Ashanti architecture

Manhyia Palace is not just a tourist site — it is a living cultural institution and the center of Ashanti governance, tradition, and unity.

📍 A must-visit when in Kumasi!
